Markets and brands aren’t static. They are constantly being influenced and shaped by forces that sometimes emerge over a number of years or sometimes over a number of months. One year a category or brand is on fire with growth and no one sees an end in sight and then…wham…the next year it all grinds to a screeching halt. What happened?

 

 

Some unanticipated new force emerges that begins altering user preferences for the brand or category. GC calls a force that emerges from within a brands category a “Micro Force”. We call a force that emerges from outside a brands category a “Macro Force”. GC’s search for growth opportunities begins with a data-driven look at all the Macro and Micro Forces effecting the brand and it’s core category. This helps paint a clear picture of the brands current situation and surfaces early hypotheses for which Market Space the brand should focus on and identifies some early growth opportunities or DigSites the brand could pursue.
